Leaders cannot devalue you without your permission. You have value. Every person does. You have talents and skills that can add value to others. You have resources and opportunities that no-one else has.
First Lady Michelle Obama explained: “One of the lessons that I grew up with was to always stay true to yourself and never let what somebody else says distract you from your goals. When I hear about negative and false attacks, I really don’t invest any energy in them, because I know who I am.”
If you know who you are and you take a proactive approach to life, you are less likely to feel like a victim. You can’t do everything but you can do some things. You can’t prevent others from treating you poorly, but you can decide how to respond.

Your body language just doesn’t just affect how other see you. It affects how you see yourself.
Small tweaks in your posture and appearance can mean big changes in your love life, your career, and your bank account.
Becoming more attractive is easier and less superficial than you think.
According to multiple studies, positive emotion expands your ability to deal with adversity and stress. It broadens your scope of thinking, meaning that you make better decisions after experiencing a boost of positive emotion.
You are also more likely to engage in healthy behaviors such as exercise. Those who experience more positive emotion over time are more likely to get promoted, obtain a raise, and find themselves in a strong , lasting marriage.
Understanding the power of your body language is about much more than controlling your image and how other people feel about you. It is also controlling how you feel about you and what you think. What you think is what you become.
Appearance is a language of its own. And like any other language, you must learn to speak it well in order to communicate successfully.
Our brains are always on the lookout for cues. Is this person trustworthy? Are they credible? Are they out to get me? Should I spend the finite amount of time I have on my calendar with them? Should I invest my resources here? To answer those questions, we must begin somewhere. And the easiest place to start is with what we see.
As much as we’d like to believe that looks don’t matter , they do. Putting effort into your appearance yields results that influence people’s decisions about you.
APPEARANCE CAN BUILD YOUR CREDIBILITY OR DISMANTLE IT.
When trying to influence others, consider whether your appearance builds a bridge to your goal or a detour from it.
What story your appearance tell about you? Since we are talking about how successful women speak differently, it is a reasonable question to ask: “What exactly does your appearance speak of you?”
Your appearance is a form of communication. So ask yourself. What does my appearance communicate to those around me, at work, in social settings, at church, and in my community? Is that the message I want to communicate, or is it time for some tweaks and changes?

Your Self-image is the biggest determining factor in your success.
I will forever be thankful for my mom who early in age implanted positive thoughts in me. I was a very shy individual and my self-esteem wasn’t the best growing up. I was involved in church activities, theater and dancing activities, I went to modeling school and I was very active in sports. All of those extra curriculum activities helped me be the person I am today.
When you were younger or recently can you think of a time that how you thought about yourself impacted the results you got?
Maybe your mindset when selling something or fundraising as a
kid or performing in sports or music and how it gave you either
a positive or negative result.
It is so important to have a healthy image and if you have kids i encourage you to help them with that.
Healthy self-image:
– thinking positive thoughts about yourself – be open to learn
Vs
Unhealthy self-image – thinking negative thoughts about yourself
– no energy even to try, don’t believe it is worth it.
Always focus on the strengths instead to automatically go to your weaknesses.
Remember the price tag we place on ourself is the price tag others place on us.
Self worth is a choice!

I believe it was sometime in November or early December of last year when I had my yearly mammogram. I really can’t remember the exact date but what I can’t forget is the phone call that followed that appointment. Since I have been getting my mammograms in my early thirties I have never had a phone call. I always get my results in the mail.
That day was different. They asked me to comeback for another appointment to have another mammogram done. You probably now by now my anxiety started to kick in, but being a person of faith wasn’t as bad as I thought I would react. You should never let your nerves take over. I just kept praying and kept focusing on what they said, they needed to do another mammogram to get a better view of my breasts, right? No need to get too excited.

I make it to my appointment and my mammogram gets completed. The nurse, was so sweet, she asked me to step outside and wait for the doctor to take a look before she lets me go. She comes back to let me know after few minutes that the doctor is running behind and that it may take a little longer than expected that she is going to transfer me to another room so she can continue on with her patients. Haha! I laughed because I’m thinking, I have been in this field for a long time and I know something here is not good, however this nurse is doing such a great job trying to ease my mind but unfortunately it wasn’t working. I asked how long it may be and she said 15 to 20 minutes. Those 15 to 20 mins became hours to me. I slowly started to cry. The only thing I could think of was my precious daughter. I really started questioning God. Why would he be so gracious and send me my baby if I wasn’t going to be able to enjoy her? At that point I wish you would’ve been in my mind. I completely mapped out how I wanted to spend my days with her if I had cancer. Then I said to myself, wait a minute Janitza what are you going to do if thats not the case? Since that day I decided to plan how I wanted to spend my time purposely with her and my loved ones because life is so precious and we can’t start letting life happen to us, we have to intentionally live our lives in a meaningful way.

Nothing was found in my breasts. Everything came negative, it was just small cyst and we have nothing to worry about. We tend to wait to make plans when obstacles and adversity knock on our doors instead of being proactive. I hope you can join me in living a meaningful life with your loved ones and be intentional about how you want to spend the rest of your days and make it happen.
My intentions were to have some pictures taken of the two of us and she ended up taking pictures of me. She had a great time and I had a great time watching her enjoy her photo session.
