Every time I do training or a group training I pray for direction. I pray for wisdom, experience and good knowledge of the words that are going to come out of my mouth. I want my knowledge to get through at least one person. My goal is always to be able to impact everyone, but I also understand that some people are not ready to receive the message. Some are not ready to hear me to the level I need to be heard. Some are not even ready to try to process what I am saying, and some simply don’t care.
As I was doing team training about the choices you make, make you this past week, my intentions were for people to understand a few things.
“Successful people make right decisions early and manage those desicions daily. ”
It is so important to know that What we do on some great occasion will probably depend on what we already are: and what we are will be the result of previous years of self discipline. Choices are the most determining factor in how our lives turn out. There is always a choice you have to make in everything you do. So keep in mind that at the end, the Choice you make, make you.
Some people make their lives difficult by making the wrong choices, others move through life easier because of the good choices they’ve made.
I had to let go some people in the past just because they can’t commit to come to work on time. Why is it that the young generation has the mentality that they can come to work at the time they want. Some even think it is Ok to not come to work every time something very minor happens. Something like a minor headache, a minor cold, or personal issues? It is overwhelming to see this, but then how are you able to manage life? Seriously, that’s something very important to pause and think about.
Regardless of which road a person takes, we dont always get what we want, but we always get what we choose.
Keep in mind that the choices you make impact not only you and your family but many others. Once you choose, you become a servant of that choice. You must deal with its consequences, for better or worse. And that has an impact on you.
What major choices have changed your life?
I shared with my group when I left my family, my country, and my friends to come to the United States at ge 17. Not only was the only one that said that, but I had a few other people who said the same. Some moved to a different state and others just different towns, but the impact was the same. To some that is a major choice that changed their lives.
Always having the high standards for ourselves is 10 times more important than allowing others to set them up for ourselves. I always evaluate my efforts and feel good about myself. That’s why I have always set my standards high for myself. Even though this was part of my upbringing, I always strive to do better and I want my team to always strive to do better. I shared with them my experiences in my career because we are in a field where we are helping people. Always helping people is more important than making them feel happy.
Helping my team to get better is more important to me than to make them happy. When I set high standards, when I tell truth, when I make them work harder, it is because I care and I want them to reach their potential. I always expect them to sacrifice for the team and the patients. I do make desicions that they disagree with, I attempt to move them out of their comfort zone, and I do give some people more attention than others. Every day as a leader, I will make someone unhappy.
Are you prepared to make difficult choices?. My team answered yes. I hope they are correct. Because preparing yourself for making difficult decisions comes with a lot of desicion making in your life, I also believe the best way to prepare yourself is by working through many of them ahead of time. Being prepared is half the battle.
